St Neots 5th Anniversary Event

24th October 2018

To mark its 5th anniversary, St Neots Foodbank held an event at the United Reformed Church on Saturday 13th October 2018. About 50 people attended, mainly foodbank volunteers. They enjoyed a buffet lunch, as a “thank you” from the foodbank for all their hard work during the year A “birthday” cake was baked specially for the occasion and cut by both Mrs Angie Robertson and Mr Alan Cronin, who were key people in founding and running the foodbank in its early days.

Dr Roger Peppiatt, current chair of trustees, thanked various people for the contributions to the event and for their endeavors on behalf of the foodbank. He passed round copies of the booklet printed for the occasion, together with a leaflet appealing for help, particularly for more people to take out standing orders to help the foodbank with it increasing overheads. Mrs Adrienne Dunn, current manager, then gave a short illustrated presentation on how the foodbank operates. In spite of increasing demand on its services, the foodbank is able to meet the demand, with over 17 tonnes of food donated last year.

The event finished with a short church service, introduced by the minister at the URC, Rev’d. Dr Rick Meakle.  Mrs Hilary Westcott read a passage from the Gospel of Matthew, Mr Peter Lang led the prayers and Mr Alan Cronin gave the address.
